My name is Robin Halsted. I am a Republican running for the District 10 Kent County Commissioner seat and am honored to share a bit about myself with you.
Background & Family:
I have been a proud resident of Gaines Township for over two decades. I LOVE living in Gaines and enjoying all the benefits of the big city yet appreciating the small town feel. I enjoy the diversity of agriculture, business and education and find the people in our community are the best!
My faith in Christ is at the heart of everything I do and provides hope and direction with each new day. My family is my next greatest love and priority. As the devoted wife of Jeffrey Halsted for 33 wonderful years, and as a loving mother to Brianna (married to Ryan) and Jeffrey (married to Logan), my life has been blessed beyond measure. And if that wasn't blessing enough, I'm also the grateful Nana to ten beautiful grandchildren, who bring boundless joy and laughter into my life every day.
Professional Journey
With an Associate's Degree from Cedarville University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Cornerstone University, I've had the privilege of pursuing a fulfilling career path that aligns with my passion for community engagement and service. My professional journey has seen me serve in various capacities, each experience deepening my commitment to making a positive impact wherever I serve.

I've had the honor of working as the Executive Director of the Cutlerville-Gaines Chamber of Commerce, where I played a pivotal role in fostering local businesses and strengthening community ties. My tenure as the Director of Cutlerville Community Days allowed me to spearhead initiatives that brought neighbors together in celebration and solidarity.
Dedication to education led me to serve in advancement roles at both Cornerstone University and Christian Healthcare Centers, where I worked tirelessly to support educational and healthcare initiatives that empower individuals and communities to thrive.

Currently, I serve part-time as a Marketing Assistant for Candescent Group, a family owned business, where I enjoy collaborating with other professionals to drive meaningful change through innovative marketing strategies.
Community Involvement
Beyond my professional commitments, I have actively engaged in numerous community organizations and initiatives. As a Pastor's wife for over 27 years, I've been privileged to support individuals and families in moments of joy and hardship, offering guidance, support, and love. Over the years, I've participated in volunteer work through various activities such as community days, festivals, clean-up efforts, youth/teen leadership programs, Hand2Hand initiatives, Bible studies, public speaking engagements, and senior care activities. These experiences have enriched my understanding of our community's needs and strengthened my commitment to serving its diverse members.

My journey has been shaped by a deep-rooted dedication to service, integrity, and compassion. As I step into this new phase, I'm excited to utilize my background, expertise, and unwavering commitment to support the people of Gaines Township and Kent County. I eagerly anticipate advocating for a secure environment where we can all thrive – a place where we live, work, play, and nurture our dreams. I humbly accept the responsibility to listen attentively and work diligently, ensuring that your hard-earned tax dollars are utilized wisely and for the betterment of our community.
